Announcements for the Week of March 29, 2009

MINISTRY LEADERS- A meeting will be held TODAY @ 1:00P.M. Lunch will be provided.

GOOD FRIDAY – A special Good Friday service will be held on April 10th @ 7p.m. This will also be our communion service for the month of April, and communion will not be served during the regular Thursday Bible Study on April 2nd.

SCHEDULE CHANGE - The Thursday, April 9th Bible Study is cancelled due to the Seder Feast.

SEDER FEAST – Join our church family for a traditional Seder Feast (Passover Celebration) at Beallsville Civic Center on April 9, at 6:30 p.m.. Seating is reserved. Tickets are $10 per adult and $5 per child (under 12 years old). Tickets will be sold today in the church entryway following both the first and second services. The annual Seder Feast is both memorial and symbolic; memorial in memory of that first Passover night in Egypt; symbolic because its ultimate fulfillment was Calvary, “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world ” John 1:29. Please join us as we partake in this holy convocation. Questions? See Carol Steve. HELP NEEDED: Volunteers are needed to assist in “clean-up” duties after the Seder Feast. Please contact Carol Steve if willing.

 

WIDOW’S MEETING - The Widow’s Meeting will be held on Friday, April 3rd at 7:00 p.m. in the church basement. Please contact Paula Kinney-Mahle or Flo Brovey if you would like more information about this ministry.

BENEFIT DINNER- You are invited to attend our school’s annual benefit dinner on Saturday, April 18 @ 6p.m. at the “Center In The Woods” in California, PA. Please RSVP Beckie Cannon by April 3rd.

SOCKS - Thank you for helping our NYC Mission Team collect 582 pairs of tube socks. The socks will be distributed to the needy of New York City. Please pray for our team as we begin our mission trip this Wednesday.

EASTER OUTREACH - We are in need of volunteers for this year’s Easter Outreach. We will meet to pack fruit at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2009 in the church basement. If you would like to assist in packing or delivering Easter fruit to the elderly in our community & surrounding areas, please join us. In addition to packers, we need volunteers to deliver this year’s baskets. Those delivering baskets will need to meet in the church basement by 12 noon on April 11. Monetary donations & donations of wrapped candy can be dropped off in the church office by Thursday, April 9. Sign-up sheets are located in the rear of the sanctuary. Contact Jim or Diann Stakias.

MEN’S RETREAT - A Men’s Retreat will be held at the “Castle” in Franklin, PA, April 24th through the 26th. The cost is $65 per person. Please contact the church office by March 31st if you plan to attend. All payments are due in the church office by April 9th. (724-377-2522).

WORSHIP TEAM TRYOUTS – If you have been gifted with singing or musical abilities, and love worshiping the Lord, we need to know that you are out there. Please attend the worship team tryouts on Wednesday, April 15th (NEW DATE) @ 6:30. See Gregg Vizza for more details.

ACQUIRE THE FIRE- This annual 2-day youth revival conference is scheduled for May 8th & 9th at the Peterson Event Center. Fliers with complete details are available on the back table. Reservation deadline is April 30th. To keep the cost at an absolute minimum, we have decided to return to the church Friday night for a sleep-over before returning to the conference on Saturday morning. ADULTS NEEDED: We are looking for parents and adults who would be willing to chaperone the sleep-over Friday night 11:30 p.m. til 6:30 a.m.

PARENTS INVITED! For the First time ever, Acquire the Fire will host a parent specific session along with a joint session for parents and teenagers. ATF’s heart is to see parents cultivate an environment of growth within the home that is stronger than the culture of society. See Kurt or Pam for more details.

ADULT & FAMILY MISSION TRIP - An Adult & Families Mission Trip is being planned with New York City Relief Bus from October 1-4th. We are limited to a team of 24, so please sign the sign-up sheet if you plan to attend. Openings will be filled on a first come basis and will be confirmed by the receipt of your $50 commitment fee. There is a flier on the back table that covers basic information. Contact Kurt or Pam Nuckels with questions.

ANNUAL SPRING CONCERT – Calvary Chapel Christian School will conduct it’s annual Spring Concert on Monday, April 27th at 7:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Please come and hear the 3rd and 4th grade students praise the Lord in song.

CCCS SCHOOL BOARD MEETING- A school board meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 8th at 7:00 p.m. All are encouraged to attend.

LYN- If you would like us to contact you about volunteer opportunities with the Love Your Neighbor Ministry, please place your name and phone number on the list located in the rear of the sanctuary.

HELP SPREAD THE WORD!- Love Your Neighbor needs your help to get the word out to your community about this awesome ministry. Please take a few flyers and post them in your local post office, grocery store, beauty shop, or in any other local business that has a bulletin board for community announcements. If we would each hang 2 or 3 flyers a month, we will see this outreach multiply.

PROPER SCHEDULING PROTOCOL – To help avoid scheduling conflicts within our busy church body, please remember to call the church office BEFORE scheduling any functions/meetings. (724-377-2522). Thank you for your cooperation.

GREENE COVE TRAIL RUN/WALK FUNDRAISER - Get out your running/walking shoes, mark your calendar, and join us for a fun outdoor activity. Calvary Chapel will host a Run/Walk on the Greene Cove River Trail on Saturday, May 2, 2009. The fee and schedule will be announced in next week’s bulletin. Proceeds will benefit Calvary Chapel Christian School. For more information, please contact Rich or Kathy Cramer. So please join us for this fun event.

“WELCOME SPRING” POTLUCK- Please join us for a “Welcome Spring” potluck on Sunday, March 22 following the 2nd service @ the Beallesville Civic Center. The church will provide the meat and drinks. Please sign up at the rear of the sanctuary if you plan to attend. Don’t miss out on a great time of food, fun, and fellowship.

CAKE AUCTION FUNDRAISER – Calling all Benny and Betty Crockers’. It’s time to put on your apron and do a little baking. The Youth group is currently raising funds to attend this year’s Acquire The Fire youth ministry. If you’d like to help, please bake a cake to be auctioned at the March 22nd potluck. Cakes will be auctioned to the highest bidder. All proceeds will go toward Acquire the Fire. Any type of cake will do, so be creative, and have some fun. Bring one cake and go home with another. Cakes will not be served at the potluck, and should be brought in addition to a covered dish.

CCCS OPEN HOUSE – Calvary Chapel Christian School will host their annual Open House on March 25th from 6 to 8p.m. If you know someone who might be interested in our school, this is a good opportunity for them to meet our teachers. We will also be registering new students on this evening.

Update NYMT Sock Collection – Our totals are climbing. We’ve now collected 374 pairs of men’s white tube socks toward our goal of 1000 pair. We have 3 short weeks left.

Hire a Missionary – Please check out our “Hire A Missionary” bulletin board located in the downstairs entrance hallway, where you’ll find posted the resumes of missionaries looking to earn some much needed funds to attend April’s New York mission trip. Our missionaries are very hard working and have many skills and talents to offer. On the bottom of each resume you will find a phone number for you to call and schedule their services. The Mission Team would also like to thank you for all your support and to ask that you begin praying for our Team as we begin the journey of preparing to make the trip.
